Basic Education: Early Grade Reading Program (G2G)

(Nepal): USAID will use FY~2014 funds to support the new Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP). The EGRP directly supports USAID's Education Strategy Goal One and will be part of the Government of Nepal's (GON) School Sector Reform Program, funded by multiple donors and the GON. USAID will help the Ministry of Education develop, test, and institutionalize interventions to improve reading in public primary grades 1-3. EGRP will be implemented through four separate mechanisms, including on-budget GON support. This GON support will drive results in instructional support and design, assessment, and monitoring. Annual Work Plans will outline yearly activities. EGRP G2G funding is expected for five years from 2014 to 2019, with an estimated life of project funding of $8,000,000. From the total planned contribution, the FY~2014 amount is $1,175,987, confirmed by the issuance of an Implementation Letter on July 11, 2014.
