Ministry of Education Redbook Support

(Nepal): USAID will utilize FY 2015 funds to support the new Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP). The EGRP directly supports USAID's Education Strategy Goal One and will be part of the Government of Nepal's (GON) School Sector Reform Program funded by multiple donors and the GON. USAID will assist the Ministry of Education develop, test, and institutionalize interventions to improve reading in public primary grades 1-3. EGRP is implemented through two separate mechanisms, including on-budget GON support. This GON support will drive results in EGR instructional design, teacher professional development, assessment, and monitoring. Annual Work Plans will outline yearly activities. The total government to government funding for five years from 2014 to 2019 is approximately $8,000,000. From the total planned contribution, the additional funds to be added in FY 2015 will be approximately $245,000 of carry-over frin year one (2014-2015), subject to availability of funds and issuance of an Implementation Letter.
